Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010It’s pretty primitive right now but it does give you desktop drag and drop URL shortening independently of your browser. Just drag the favicon at the left of the browser URL bar onto the window. It will be added to your clipboard also.

My App Store numbers.
Thursday, June 3rd, 2010They are not very good. My first two products, I did not know about the release date issues. Hopefully I got it right this time with VideoUpLink!
I made PhotoUpLink for iPhone free and ad supported. That is over. I am now charging $1.99 for PhotoUpLink and VideoUpLink. Here is how it went down:
PhotoUpLink has about 11,000 downloads since its release in January, 2009 and has earned about $300 in ad revenue.
Torus was released in August of 2008. It made $206 before I gave up and just made free as a tease for Torus SE – it has had about 2,500 downloads.
So right now I am buried in the bowels of the App Store! Lets see how the new releases go. Screwing up the release date buried my apps two or three pages down the list, way off the front page, costing me thousands of dollars. I’ve really been on my back foot with Apple since then. Since the App Store millions never materialized I applied for six different jobs at Apple and got rejected six times by six different groups. Interestingly enough, I did walk away with a good cross-section of Apple and how it works, but they make you sign an NDA at the door so no more on that.
As many of you know the iTunes reporting is fragmented at best. I am only able to report a coherent overview to y’all because of Dylan Bruzenak’s AppViz, its a fantastic application that finally revealed to me what was really going on without cutting and pasting dozens of text files into Excel. I highly recommend it.
