VideoUpLink features a large table for dropping movies onto. The size of the application window has been optimized for easy access on a busy desktop full of open folders. You can drag movies from iPhoto, Media Browser or the Finder. Each movie’s title and description can be edited within the table before uploading. These titles and descriptions will then appear on the Facebook page after the video finishes uploading.

During upload, the progress bar of each video is clearly displayed and updated. The total number of videos uploaded updates as each video finishes. The video file itself is copied to a cache file before uploading, protecting the original asset and further improving upload reliability. There will be a pause after each upload as VideoUpLink waits for confirmation of the upload. The longer the video, the more time it will take. Also, videos make take a few moments to appear on Facebook after upload and processing.
When you log in, uploads will be directed to your personal page URL. For convenience, VideoUpLink features persistent login, so you do not have to sign in each time you use the application. You can log out manually at any time. Using VideoUpLink for the first time requires some setup. Select the “Upload” tab from the top of the application window, then click the “Login” button at the top left of the “Upload” tab.

The login window can be affected by other Facebook activity in Safari. If you have trouble seeing the login area, trying hitting the “Logout” button and try logging in again. The login window can end up behind the main application window, just move the main window until it shows. If you have further difficulty, quit VideoUpLink and return to Safari to log out of Facebook there, or reset Safari from the File menu and re-open VideoUpLink. Click “Login” again and check the lower left corner for login status. Once you have logged in, the next step is to log VideoUpLink in.

No friend information is requested when you install or use the application. Click “Log in with Facebook” to continue. If you are an administrator, the list of pages you manage will then be displayed. VideoUpLink uses the “video_upload” and “manage_pages” permissions only. You can review application permissions at any time in your Facebook Account Settings.
With Pages enabled, after clicking the new “Load Pages” button, a popup menu displays a list of all the brand, business or organization Facebook pages for which the user has a Content Creator role. When a page is selected, an uplink.to short URL to the page will be generated and displayed next to the page name, confirming the page selection. The page ID and full URL will be also be displayed. After uploading, simply click the “Clear” button to return to personal use.

Pages uploading is available as an in-app purchase for $US9.99. The first time you click “Load Pages” the in-app purchase embedded web storefront hosted at eSellerate will appear. After the purchase is completed, VideoUpLink will be fully activated and you will see the status update. You will also receive a serial number with your email receipt. From the VideoUpLink top menu bar click “Registration” and then you can confirm or re-enter your serial number at any time.

VideoUpLink also accepts uploads over WiFi from VideoUpLink for iPhone. Anytime VideoUpLink is running on your Mac, the computer name will show as a destination on VideoUpLink for iPhone. Tapping the computer name on the iPhone screen initiates the upload. A new preference has been added to make VideoUpLink a desktop startup item, so videos can be uploaded at anytime without having to manually launch the application.
